Look who we ran into on our walk to the pond ~

An Eastern Towhee who wasn’t shy at all.

He and his mate kept singing back and forth to each other

while they watched us from their perches in the trees.

Hoping For Snow

December 17, 2009

Hoping for some of this for the weekend in NC!

Field with Cloud

We have had a very unusual climate this summer.

It has been unseasonally cool for North Carolina,

but the skys have been beautiful.

This was probably the largest cloud I’ve ever seen,

and it was even more spectacular

with the sun setting against it.

Growing Up!

All The Horses

Our baby horse is growing up,

he’s with all the big horses now.

Growing Up

He still doesn’t get far from Mama though.

Bigger Colt with Mother

Two Weeks Later

An update on the new colt at the Bashon Farm.

He is taller and filled-out a little more.  His hair

is also getting coarser, his mane was so soft and wispy

the first time I saw him.  He came over to the paddock rail

to be petted this time too.  He was very bashful before

and stayed close to his mother.  He is still nursing,

so he doesn’t get too far away.

Colt with Mother

Here is the colt with his mother.  She is beautiful also,

so large, and a deep brown with huge hoofs.

Blue Sky and Clouds

As I was driving in rural Davie County on Saturday,

I came upon a beautiful farm with several

pastures for horses and black cows.

 Horses in Pasture

I came up to photograph this little fellow’s mother because she was so

gorgeous, and was very surprised to find him lying sound asleep on the

grass near the front of the paddock.  Before I could get his picture, he

sensed me, woke up and stretched.  He was only a few weeks old, if that.
